What each plan includes
Every plan — including Free — seals each signed document with SHA-256 and records a complete audit trail. The paid plans lift the sending limit and add the workflow features that regular senders and teams need. Security is never the upsell.
A fuller breakdown of what the product does lives on the CalmSign features page, and the cryptography behind the seal is documented on the security page.
Which plan fits you
Most people can pick in under a minute, because the only question that matters is how many documents you send in a normal month and whether anyone else needs to send alongside you.
Free — occasional agreements
Five documents a month covers a landlord renewing a lease, a founder signing the occasional NDA, or anyone who needs a signature a handful of times a year. You get the same SHA-256 seal, the same audit trail, and the same verification page as every paying customer. Nothing is watermarked and nothing expires. If you never outgrow it, stay on it — we would rather you sent five sealed documents a month for free than paid for a plan you do not use.
Pro — you send contracts as part of the job
Consultants, freelancers, recruiters, agencies, and small landlords usually cross five documents in the first fortnight of a busy month. Pro removes the ceiling for $12 and adds the three things that make repeat sending bearable: saved templates so you are not rebuilding the same consulting agreement every time, custom branding so the signing page looks like you rather than like us, and priority support. If you send even one document a week, Pro pays for itself against the per-envelope pricing everywhere else.
Business — a team, or software doing the sending
Business is for the point where signing stops being one person's task. Five members share one workspace, so an operations lead can see what the sales side has out for signature and templates stay consistent across the team. It also unlocks the API, webhooks, and bulk send — enough to fire contracts out of your own onboarding flow, get a callback the moment one is signed, and send the same document to fifty recipients at once. At $29/month flat that is roughly what a single seat costs elsewhere, and it is the whole team plus the integration surface.
The advertised price is not always the price
The reason CalmSign's pricing page is short is that the pricing model is short. Most e-signature tools bill a monthly seat fee and meter the documents you send through it, so the number you budget for and the number on the renewal invoice are two different numbers. Here is how the three tools people usually compare against actually add up.
DocuSign — $30/user/month, 100 envelopes a year
DocuSign Standard is $30 per user per month and still caps each user at 100 envelopes per year — about 8 documents a month. Go over and envelopes cost $3–$8 each. A busy month of 20 documents already breaches the annual allowance. CalmSign Pro is $12/month for unlimited sending, with no envelope accounting to do.

In 2025 SignNow added a 100-signature-invite annual cap to every plan, with $1.50–$1.80 per invite beyond it. On Business Premium at $15/user/month, one person sending 45 documents a month needs 540 invites a year: $180 of subscription plus roughly $660 of overages, about $840 for the year. The same volume on CalmSign Pro is $144, because 45 documents and 450 documents cost the same.

PandaDoc is genuinely good at proposals, CPQ, and CRM-driven deals. But there is no tier between Starter at $19/month (110 documents a year) and Business at $49/seat/month, and API access with webhooks sits behind Enterprise pricing. If the job is getting contracts signed rather than building proposals, CalmSign Pro is $12/month and CalmSign Business puts the API and webhooks at $29/month flat.

Common questions
Do signers need to pay?
No. Signers never need an account or a subscription. They open the link you send, sign in the browser, and download their sealed copy. Only the sender needs a CalmSign account.
What happens when I hit the 5-document limit on Free?
Sending pauses until the next calendar month. Nothing else changes: every document you already sent stays in your dashboard, stays verifiable, and keeps its audit trail. Documents already out for signature can still be signed and completed — the limit counts documents you send, not signatures you receive. Upgrade to Pro at any point in the month and sending resumes immediately.
Do you charge overage fees?
Never. There is no per-document, per-envelope, or per-signature charge on any plan. Pro is $12/month whether you send 8 documents or 800, and Business is $29/month on the same terms. The Free plan simply stops at 5 documents rather than billing you for the sixth.
How do team seats work on Business?
Business is $29/month flat for up to 5 members — not $29 per person. Each member signs in with their own account and sends under the shared workspace, so documents, templates, and audit trails live in one place instead of scattered across personal logins. If you need more than 5 seats, email hello@usecalmsign.com and we will work something out.
Is there a per-user charge?
No. Free and Pro are single-seat plans. Business includes up to 5 members at one flat rate. We do not price by seat, by envelope, or by signature, which is why the number on the pricing page is the number on the invoice.
Can I switch plans later?
Yes, in either direction, from your dashboard. Upgrades take effect immediately. Downgrades take effect at the end of the billing period you have already paid for, so you keep the features you bought until the term runs out.
Do I need a credit card to start?
Not for the Free plan — create an account and send your first document without entering payment details. Pro and Business start with a free trial; you only enter card details when you decide to keep the plan.
Can I cancel anytime?
Yes. Cancel from your dashboard at any time. There is no contract and no cancellation fee. You keep access through the end of the billing period you already paid for, and all your signed documents remain yours.
What happens to my documents if I cancel?
They stay yours. Each signed copy is self-contained: the SHA-256 seal and audit data travel inside the document, so a copy you have downloaded can be verified independently of your account status. Download the documents and audit certificates you want to keep before you close the account, and delete anything you would rather we did not keep — deletion removes it from our systems entirely.
Do you offer refunds?
There is no long contract to get out of: cancel and you are simply not billed again. If you were charged for a month you did not mean to use, email hello@usecalmsign.com and we will sort it out.
Are signed documents legally binding?
Yes. Electronic signatures are legally binding in most jurisdictions under laws like ESIGN (US), eIDAS (EU), and similar legislation worldwide. Every CalmSign document carries the tamper seal and audit trail that make a signature defensible if it is ever questioned.
